Self-doubt is something that I have always struggled with. When I initially got offered to play as goalie for my soccer team, I felt immense pressure. For me, it was a huge responsibility and it doesn’t help when I get comments from the sideline saying “That was so easy! You could have saved that.” However, when I started playing as a goalie, it opened up so many opportunities for me and I began to love the sport even more.
I learnt that overcoming self-doubt and pursuing something creates opportunities and inspires individuals. This is how I felt about Initiate 48 as it was my first time going to an event like this, without any knowledge, experience or friends.
However, it turned out to be a cool event where I surrounded myself with people from different backgrounds with their own unique stories. Everyone in the room had such diverse skill sets which showed me how promising our future is. That self-doubt I had on the first day evolved into a passion as my team and I worked through the ups and downs and eventually accomplished first place. I learnt that entrepreneurship is such a diverse field that allows anyone to solve the problems they believe in.
