Curiosity and creativity swept through the first virtual workshop of School Entrepreneur of the Year 2021, Australia’s inaugural nationwide business-building tournament.
In six hours (think equivalent to a single school day), our high school participants were able to grasp and deliver upon pivotal entrepreneurial concepts from problem identification all the way to pitching their solution to a panel of external judges. Out of the teams who joined, two were qualified for the second round of the Tournament where they will be taking their solutions further by delving deep into viable financial models and cost structures with teams from all across Australia. Congratulations to Brainstorm Learning (Baulkham Hills High School) and SpeakNow (Kambala High School) who were our winners and runners up respectively.
1st Place: BrainStorm Learning,
Runner-up: SpeakNow
We know that all young people have the potential and motivation to change the world with the right encouragement. This is why Startup 101 and the opportunities it creates are the reasons why Generation Entrepreneur and companies like Finder are determined to drive the next generation of change-makers through entrepreneurial and enterprise learning.
Keep a lookout in the coming weeks to see how you can get involved in the next virtual workshop as a teacher or a current high school student, no matter where you are in Australia.
A big thank you goes out to Finder for sponsoring the success of the first round. On behalf of the Generation Entrepreneur team and the attendees, we thank you for continually inspiring and empowering a generation of entrepreneurs.
We also want to thank our judging panel — Sunny Lin and Blake Im, for lending their expertise amidst what would have been a difficult deliberation session. You were both phenomenal!
